On February the 17th, Ferreira do Zêzere’s Cultural Centre will host the long awaited 8th Fado Gala.
Having been one of Amália Rodrigues’ guitar players, Jorge Fernando da Silva Nunes accompanied other of these well-known names like Fernando Maurício, António Pinto Basto and Celeste Rodrigues, and helped to launch fado singers like Mariza, Ana Moura and Camané.
With an unparalleled career in the fado realm, which resulted in a large collection of music, albums and performances around the world, Jorge da Silva Nunes was awarded with the Comenda da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique by the President of the Portuguese Republic, for service provided in the expansion of the Portuguese culture, its history and values.
One of the most sung composers of the Portuguese music, author of songs such as "Boa noite solidão" (Good night solitude), "Búzios" (Conchs), "Quem vai ao fado" (Who comes to fado) and "Chuva" (Rain), you will want to be present and enjoy this enchanted night of Portuguese sounds.
