Cantar a Terra -Segue-me à Capela

The Parish Church of Cernache do Bonjardim hosts on June 26, at 6 pm, the concert "Cantar a Terra – Seguime à Capela". This concert will present the work resulting from traditional singing workshops (24th and 25th of June), contextualized in their functional perspective, making a tour not only of traditional songs but also of songs characteristic of the territory.

The show is aimed at the entire population and will include the participation of workshop trainees. Those interested in participating in the workshops should register with the Union of Parishes of Cernache do Bonjardim, Nesperal and Palhais, in person or by calling 274 809 318. Enrollment is limited. The workshops will take place in the auditorium of the União de Freguesias headquarters on June 24 (from 9 pm to 11 pm) and on June 25 (from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 6 pm). They will be promoted by the collective "Segue-me à Capela", made up of seven women who work with traditional Portuguese music in a contemporary perspective, using the voice as the main instrument.

"Cantar a Terra, Seguime à Capela" aims to recover songs and "pick up the thread or create new ends". The songs "were born here and there, as if any of life's wheels were found to be lacking: that of the Seasons of the Year, that of the seed to the bread, that of the spring to the mouth, that of the birth to the death (and beyond, if from the souls it is true to be eternal), and the others that imitate the shape of the earth, which, being round, is, after all, infinite".

It is part of the Project "Paths of People" of the Cultural Programming in the Middle Tagus Network, which consists of a "program for the selection of artistic and cultural sites and objects, for the enhancement and dissemination of cultural and heritage assets, more specifically, the heritage cultural and natural that presents a potential of attractiveness and projection of the territory". As part of the "People's Paths", the following activities will take place in the municipality of Sertã, which will be announced in due course:
- "Baile, Aldara Bizarro" - August 14, 6 pm, at Alameda da Carvalha, Sertã
- Workshop and Theater "O Sítio" - September 24, 9 pm at the Social, Recreation and Cultural Center of Vale do Laço and September 25, at 4 pm, at ACRAMIOSO – Associação Cultural e Recreativa do Amioso
- Urban Art Workshop for Seniors "Can 65, Mistaker Maker" - October 8 (11:00 and 14:00) and 9 (11:00 and 14:00) - Sertã
