SYNOPSIS Exhibition “Illustrated Proverbs” A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. Therefore, the illustrator (Ana) Paula Nunes allowed herself to be known through his careful design and artistic sensitivity, some of the proverbial expressions brought to the memory of many and used in the Portuguese language. The proverbs were chosen randomly, some more known and heard than others, but they all fit into a ancestral wisdom that, nowadays, comes to the fore and is part of Portuguese culture and identity. Among many of the purposes of the International Association of Paremiology (AIP-IAP), based in Tavira, Portugal, (and the only one in the world to scientifically study proverbs) we have the Exhibition “Illustrated Proverbs” as a way of contributing to the cultural heritage of intangible heritage for generations following, in the defense and promotion of UNESCO's values.
